High Holy Days 5780
High Holy Days 5781/2020
This has been a year marked by change. What does this mean for our community?
The global pandemic has created an environment in which it is difficult to gather together physically for prayer. Moving the worship experience online has been a challenge but we have met it with vigor, guided by the value of Pikuach Nefesh—the idea that saving a human life is more important than anything else we might be commanded to do.
With this in mind as the high holy day season approaches, Nafshenu will be holding services via live-stream for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. We have been working hard as a team to put together an interactive lay-led experience, filled with honest prayer, invigorating music and thoughtful reflection. If you do not yet have plans for services, we would be honored to have you join us. A schedule for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services are at the bottom of this message, and will be available on our website as well. We hope to see you on Zoom!
During these Days of Awe, let us come together as a Kehilah Kedosha - a holy community - as we listen to the voices of those around us. May we ask forgiveness of each other for our misdeeds in the year that has passed, and work to define this New Year through acts of Gemilut Chasadim - acts of love and kindness.
